On the early morning of October 30, the 225 meter long, 77684 dwt bulk carrier Eternal Bright (IMO: 9287780) became disabled in the Dardanelles Strait off Kepez, Turkey. The Eternal Bright was headed to Karabiga from Ust-Luga with a cargo of 75,000 tons of coal when it suffered engine failure resulting in a power blackout.  The bulk carrier alerted authorities who dispatched the KEGM tugs Kurtarma 3 (IMO: 9335939) and Kurtarma 19 (IMO: 9995129). The tugs took the bulk carrier under tow and proceeded to the Karanlık Liman anchorage where it safely moored. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

 

 

MSC Prosperity II

MSC Prosperity II

On April 26, the 172 meter long, 20168 dwt container ship MSC Prosperity II (IMO: 9256418) became disabled in the Çanakkale Strait south of Kepez, Turkey. The MSC Prosperity II departed  from Egypt bound for Tuzla when it suffered mechanical failure. Authorities dispatched a tug which took the containership under tow to a secure location. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

On March 20, the 77 meter long, 867 gt tanker Kolin 2 (MMSI: 271043116 / IMO: 8622517) ran aground on Dardanelles near Kepez, Çanakkale, Turkey. The Kolin 2 was attempted to the enter the port of Kepez with 1160 cubic meters of waste when it suffered rudder failure and ran aground.

Authorities dispatched the tug Türkelí to pull the tanker free.  Divers inspected the hull of the Kolin 2 and found there was no damage from the grounding. No reports of injuries or pollution released.
