The 43 foot long fishing vessel Deep capsized after suffering water ingress while off Key West, Florida.  The vessel had contacted the Coast Guard that the vessel was taking on water and was in need of assistance.  The Coast Guard dispatched the cutter Nantucket and a helicopter to the scene.   When the cutter arrived, the Deep had already overturned with one crew man on the hull and another in a life raft.  Both men were rescued.  No reports of injuries.

A 74 foot long fishing vessel also suffered water ingress while off Key West.  The vessel contacted the Coast Guard that in was in need of assistance.  The Coast Guard sent the Nantucket and dispatched a fix wing aircraft to the scene.   The vessel became waterlogged forcing the three people aboard to abandon ship into the life raft.  However, the life raft capsized sending the three people into the water.  Two of the three people were rescued by Nantucket.  The other was rescued by the fishing vessel Southern Grace.    One person suffered minor injuries.

2 Carnival Cruise Ships Collide

The Carnival cruise ships Carnival Fantasy (260 meters long and 7200 dwt) and Carnival Imagination (259 meters long and 7200 dwt) collided while moored at Key West, Florida.   The two passenger vessels struck stern to stern resulting in some minor cosmetic damage.   No reports of injuries, pollution or structural damage.   The Coast Guard responded and is conducting an investigation into the incident.
