On May 11, the 158 meter long container ship E. R. Tallinn allided with the lock wall in the Kiel Canal at Brunsbüttel, Germany. The boxship sustained damage to its bow along its port side. The E. R. Tallinn proceeded on to Kiel where it berthed for repairs. The following day the vessel continue on its voyage to Gdynia from Rotterdam. No reports of injuries or pollution released.

The 164 meter long, 12562 dwt vehicle carrier Asian Breeze ran aground in the Kiel Canal off Brunsbüttel, Germany. The car carrier had been caught by a strong wind gust and pushed against the jetty.  The Asian Breeze finally struck bottom off the jetty.  No reports of injuries or pollution released. A tug was dispatched and freed the vessel later the same day.  The Asian Breeze was later to continue on its voyage to Zeebrugge.

The 95 meter long, 4900 dwt cargo vessel Bremer Martha collided with the 158 meter long, 18425 dwt container ship Pollux on the Kiel Canal near Brieholz, Germany. The Bremer Martha had suffered a power blackout and drifted into the path of the Pollux. The Pollux had only slight minimal damage and was able to resume its voyage. The Bremer Martha came to rest on the northern bank of the canal. A tug was requested and freed the Bremer Martha and proceeded to tow the cargo vessel to Rendsburg. No reports of injuries or pollution released.
