On January 19, the 78 meter long offshore support vessel Red 7 Alliance allided with a  gate at  Brunsbüttel, Germany. The Red 7 Alliance had slammed into the floodgate with considerable force. The offshore vessel 7 had damaged the hull in the bow with water ingress, but the vessel’s pumps could control the flooding. The gate sustained some 100,000 € in damage and the lock would be inoperable for several weeks. No reports of injuries. The Red 7 Alliance later proceeded to a shipyard in Kiel for repairs.

The 91 meter long general cargo vessel Wilson Hamburg allided with the lock gate in the Kiel Canal at Brunsbüttel, Germany. The Wilson Hamburg was headed to Szcecin from Saint Malo. As the vessel approached the northern lock in dense fog at Brunsbüttel, it struck the inward gate resulting in damage to gate. No reports of injuries or pollution released. The Wilson Hamburg proceeded to a quay until authorities could complete an investigation into the incident.

Destiny

The 146 meter long tanker Barbarica collided with the 28 meter fishing vessel Destiny BRA4 in the Kiel Canal near Schülp, Germany. The tanker was en route from Rotterdam to Kalundborg when it was struck by the  fishing trawler in the stern.  Both vessels were able to proceed under their own power to Kiel. No reports of injuries or pollution released. The water police launched an investigation into the incident. The Barbarica was allowed to continue on its voyage on the following day.
