The 151 meter long, 13172 dwt container ship Anne Sibum became disabled on the Kiel Canal near Rendsburg, Germany.  The Anne Sibum was proceeding through the canal when it suffered engine failure.  The container ship swung perpendicular before the the crew was able to drop anchor to avoid going aground.  No reports of injuries.  Traffic on the canal was halted until two tugs arrived on scene and took the Anne Sibum under tow.  The vessels to take the Anne Sibum to Rendsburg and traffic was restored on the canal.

The 90 meter long, 4891 dwt general cargo freighter Waaldijk ran aground on the Kiel Canal near Kudensee, Germany.  The vessel had lost steering and ran onto the south embankment.  The crew requested assistance with a tug dispatched to the scene.  The tug Luchs was able to refloat the Waaldijk which proceeded on its voyage.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

The 169 meter long container ship Flottbek ran aground on the Kiel Canal near Oldenbüttel, Germany.  The Flottbek was en route to Rotterdam from Gdynia when it suffered engine failure and ran onto an embankment.  A tug was dispatched to the scene and was able to aid the Flottbek to refloat itself.  The Flottbek was able to continue on its voyage under its own power.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.
