The 117 meter long, 10303 dwt tanker CT Longford allided with the pier at Brunsbüttel, Germany. The tanker had locked into the Kiel Canal with 8000 tons of ethanol cargo when it suddenly veered off course striking the pier. The pier sustained damage with portions of the pilings left submerged while the CT Longford suffered damage to its bow. No reports of injuries and no pollution was released.
