Drechtborg

The 133 meter long, 8867 dwt freighter Drechtborg became disabled in the Kiel Canal at Brunsbuettel, Germany.  The Drechtborg’s propeller had fouled by a rope requiring the vessel to berth at Brunsbuettel.  The crew was able clear the rope and the vessel was able to continue on its journey.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

Brunsbuettel Bump

The 171 meter long, 20316 dwt container ship Emotion allided with the 130 meter long, 8185 dwt container ship Marnedijk in the Brunsbuettel lock.   The  Emotion was mooring in the lock when its foreship cable snapped allowing the Emotion to strike the moored Marnedijk.   There was slight damage on the Marnedijk and no damage on the Emotion.  No reports of injuries or pollution released.   The water police has conducted an investigation into the incident.  The Marnedijk was en route to Bremerhaven from Gdansk.

National Glory

National Glory

The 149 meter long, 12418 dwt container ship National Glory allided with the locks on the Kiel Canal at Brunsbuttel, Germany.  The National Glory had requested tug assistance and was being towed into the lock when the towline snapped.  The container ship veered into the lock wall.   The vessel suffered dents, damage to its railing and bulwarks and holed along its starboard bow.  The lock concrete wall sustained some damage.   The National Glory proceeded to Kiel for repairs at the Lindenau shipyard.  No reports of injuries or pollution released.  The water police is conducting an investigation into the incident.
