The 23 meter long, 122 gt fishing vessel Kingfisher became disabled near Den Helder, Netherlands. The trawler had departed from a nearby shipyard when it suffered engine failure.  The crew requested assistance with the Den Helder KNRM lifeboat dispatched to the scene.

The lifeboat reached the Kingfisher and was able to attach a towline. Another lifeboat from Oudeschild arrived to assist steering the trawler into port. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

Reports state the crew were able to make repairs and continue on its voyage.

The motor tanker lighter Kingfisher caught fire on the Karnafuli River at Chittagong, Bangladesh.  The fire erupted in the vessel’s engine room when there was an electrical short circuit.  The local fire brigade was able to extinguish the blaze.  Three crewmen were injured.  No further details reported.

The Kingfisher

The 18 meter fishing vessel Kingfisher ran aground on the River Thurso, Scotland with 9 tons of crab onboard. Three crew were taken off the vessel by the Aberdeen Coastguard. The vessel was refloated later the same day and towed to Scrabster Harbour.
