The 98 meter long, 4999 dwt tanker Georgiy Froier became disabled in the Okhotsk Sea near the Kuril Islands, Russia.  The tanker had suffered engine failure and was force to drop anchor.   The crew was unable to restart the engine and a tug was requested.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.  The Georgiy Froier was en route with 4260 tons of fuel oil.

Kapitan Laskov

The 249 dwt fishing vessel Kapitan Laskov ran aground near Reefovyi Point, Kunashir Island, Kuril Islands, Russia.  There were no injuries to the crew and no signs of damage to the vessel’s hull.   An oil barge has been dispatched to the scene to pump out fuel from the trawler before it is refloated.  Two other fishing vessels are also standing by to assist the Kapitan Laskov if the crew need to evacuated.  Sixty tons of fuel was removed and the Kapitan Laskov was pulled freed.

The 1024 dwt freighter Uspeh went aground on a sand bar near the Kunahsir Island of the Kuril Islands. The vessel had lost steering when its steering chain broke. Reports state the vessel has just the bow section on the bar and in good condition.
