The 20 meter long fishing vessel  Howling Gale became disabled in Broadford Bay, Scotland.  The Howling Gale had suffered engine failure and went adrift.  The vessel sent out a distress call with the RNLI lifeboat from Kyle of Lochalsh responding.  The RNLI lifeboat arrived on scene just as the vessel was just about to wash ashore. The lifeboat crew were able to pass a towline and pull the Howling Gale to safety.  The vessels proceeded to  Broadford later the same day.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

The 18 meter long  fishing vessel Guide Us – FR 4 became disabled while off Durinish Point, Scotland.  The Guide Us had it’s propeller snagged in the vessel’s nets and disabled the engine.  The fishing vessel drifted toward the rocks and requested assistance.  Two nearby fishing vessels responded to the mayday call and took the Guide Us under tow.  The Kyle of Lochalsh RNLI lifeboat arrived on scene and assisted keeping the Guide Us from going ashore.  The RNLI lifeboat from Portree arrived a short time later and took over the tow.  The two lifeboats with the Guide Us under tow proceeded to Kyleakin Harbour.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

Laura K

On December 3, the fishing vessel Laura K sank in Broadford Bay. The one crewman on board sent out a distress call that the Laura K had suffered water ingress and was sinking.  The fishing vessel Jamiain and the RNLI lifeboat from Kyle of Lochalsh responded. The Jamiain reached the scene first taking the crewman off the Laura K.  The lifeboat arrived a few minutes later just as the Laura K sank.  No reports of injuries.
