Two Marmara Sea Collisions

On October 15, the 146 meter long, 14,550 dwt freighter Maya Land collided with the 120 meter long, 8500 dwt freighter Akar Pazar in the Marmara Sea, Turkey.  Neither vessel sustained any damage or any injuries on board.   Two days later the Akar Pazar was involved in a second collision with the 114 meter long, 9600 dwt freighter Lady Nour nearly at the same location.  This collision resulted in damage for both vessels.   Details to the extent of damage has not been reported.  Authorities have started an investigation into the incidents.

Collision in the Marmara Sea

The 33,835 dwt boxship Parmis collided with the 5,172 dwt cargo freighter Apache on the Marmara Sea near the north coast of Marmara Island.   Both vessels suffered only minor damage and were able to continue under their own power to the port authority at Tekirdag.  The Apache was heading to Russia from Italy with general cargo.   The Parmis was heading for Gemlik, Turkey from Egypt.   No reports of injury or pollution being released.
