Italian Princess

The 163 gt fishing vessel Italian Princess became disabled while off Nantucket, Massachusetts.   The vessel had suffered a leak and the crew was unable to make repairs.   The crew contacted the Coast Guard who dispatched two cutters along with a Jayhawk helicopter to the scene.   The cutters were able to assist with de-watering the vessel and proceeded to take the Italian Princess under tow to New Bedford.  No reports of injuries to the seven crew on board and no pollution was released.

Full Circle Again

Full Circle
The 40 foot fishing vessel Full Circle sank in the harbor at New Bedford, Massachusetts.  A boom was placed around the vessel divers were requested.  The divers were able to attach straps around the hull and the Full Circle was raised later the same day.  The cause of the sinking was not known, but the vessel had a history of sinking.  The vessel had sat idle since it sank on September 22, 2011 in the same location.  The sinking was caused by a leak around the propeller flooding the hull.   The vessel was raised and it’s fuel tanks were pumped out.

The vessel was to be scheduled to be sold later this week.   The Coast Guard is conducting an investigation into the sinking.
