The 3033 dwt motor vessel Adriatic sank off Ashdod, Israel after being caught in a severe storm. The vessel sent out a distress signal and the crew abandoned ship. The crew of 11 were later rescued by the cargo vessel YM Great. The Adriatic had a cargo of steel bound for Ashdod.
