The 110 meter long self-propelled tanker-barge Poolzee allided with the 79 meter long passenger ship Angela Esmee and the 72 meter long passenger ship Anna Maria Agnes along a quay at Amsterdam. The Poolzee’s bow struck both passenger ships causing them to push up against the quay. The Anna Maria Agnes sustained several dents and smashed windows while the Poolzee sustained a sizable dent to its bow.

No report of injuries. There were no passengers on board either the Angela Esmee or Anna Maria Agnes at the time of the incident.

On October 13, the 80 meter long self-propelled barge Dependant ran aground on the Wester Scheldt near Waarde, Netherlands. A navigation error caused the vessel to run up on a sand bar. The Dependant remained aground until later the same day the barge refloated itself on the rising tide. The Dependant continued on its voyage to Valkenisse. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

On September 26, the 16.5 meter long ferry Gorinchem X collided with the 85 meter long self-propelled cement tanker-barge Tarsis on the Merwede near Werkendam, Netherlands. The Gorinchem X was proceeding in dense fog between Gorinchem and Sleeuwijk with just two crew on board.  For some unreported reason, the crew of the Gorinchem X lost control and struck the Tarsis.  The Tarsis did sustain some damage by the collision, but the Gorinchem X suffered significant damage. The bow of the Gorinchem X was stoved-in. Both crewmen on the Gorinchem X suffered injuries requiring treatment. No reports of injuries or pollution released from the Tarsis.

A KNLM lifeboat along with the local fire brigade and water police patrol boat arrived on scene. Authorities brought the two crew off the Gorinchem X to shore.  Authorities found the Tarsis able to proceed under its own power. The tanker proceeded to Hansweert for further inspection.
