The 70 meter long self-propelled barge Cotrans 8 allided with a Beukels Bridge in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The Cotrans 8 was unable to stop before the barge struck the bridge damaging the wheelhouse and the car on deck was smashed. No reports of injuries or pollution released.  The Cotrans 8 was able to proceed under its own power to a nearby berth.

The 70 meter long self-propelled barge Noorderlicht sank on the Rhine River near a lock between Amerongen and Laurik, Netherlands. An exhaust pipe had broken in the engine room allowing water to flood into the vessel.  The stern of the Noorderlicht partially sank while the bow remained above water.  A patch was placed over the leak and the pumps were to dewater the vessel before it can be towed to a nearby shipyard. No reports of injuries.

Trawler Sirius Fire Stellendam

The 32 meter long fishing vessel Sirius caught fire while berthed in the port of Stellendam, Netherlands.  The fire started during the night in the wheelhouse and quickly the superstructure was engulf in flames.  The local fire brigade from Stellendam and Goedereede struggled to contain the blaze.  With the aide of the KNRM the fire was eventually brought under control a few hours later.  No reports of injuries as no one was on board the Sirius at the time of the fire.  The Sirius mooring lines had burnt and the vessel had to be towed back to the quay.  Early reports state the fire most likely was started by an electrical short.
