The 60 meter long self-propelled tanker-barge Fueltrans 4 caught fire on the Wihelmina Canal near Tilburg, Netherlands. The fire started in the vessel’s engine room from an electrical short. The local fire brigade was called and assisted the crew to extinguish the blaze.  No reports of injuries or pollution released.  The Fueltrans 4 was in ballast only.

On July 13, 2014, the 80 meter long self-propelled barge Corteo G allided with a railway bridge near Nijmegen, Netherlands on the Maas-Waal canal.  The Corteo G suffered hull damage and water ingress.  The crew requested assistance with the local fire bridge responding.  The fire bridgade was able to bring the flooding under control with pumps.  A boom was placed around the vessel as an oil sheen was spotted around the vessel.  Reports state the pollution came from the vessel’s engine room as it had suffered water ingress.  No reports of injuries.  Reports state there was concern the vessel stability as the Corteo G was fully laden with steel coils.

The 86 meter long  barge Innovation II went adrift and allided with a wharf on the IJssel at Capelle, Netherlands. The barge had broken free from the self-propelled barge Innovation and struck the wharf. The wharf sustained some damage, but no reports of injuries.  An oil pollution team was reported on site.  The Innovation II did not cause the pollution, but the pollution may have resulted in the barge breaking loose.
