The 74 meter long converted luxury yacht Giant I caught fired while moored at a quay at Velsen-Noord, Netherlands.  The fire started on a mattress in one of the crew cabins which resulted in heavy smoke.   The local fire brigade responded and were able to extinguish the fire in a short time.   Four crew suffered smoke inhalation and three taken to hospital.   The amount of damage sustained on the vessel was not reported.  The cause of the fire was still unknown.

The 21 meter long  dredger Pesante sank on the Oude Maas River while berthed at the shipyard in Dordrecht, Netherlands.  The Pesante sinking was spotted by another vessel who raised the alarm.  The local fire brigade arrived to find only the wheelhouse of the Pesante still above water.  Oil pollution was spotted around the vessel.  No reports of injuries.

The 70 meter long self-propelled cement tanker-barge Aviso allided with the George Schweitzer Bridge on the Old Rhine River at Alphen aan den Rijn, Netherlands.  The Aviso was passing under the bridge when the vessel’s wheelhouse struck the bridge deck.   No reports of injuries.  The  wheelhouse was destroyed disabling the vessel.  The bridge suffered only minor scrapes.   The authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
