The 42 foot long fishing vessel Last Stand sank off Cape May, New Jersey. The Last Stand was heading back to port when it was struck by the 78 foot long Tug Dean Reinauer.  The three crew on board scrambled into survival suits and abandoned into the vessel’s life raft. The vessel sank within minutes.  A Coast Guard  response boat arrived on scene and rescued the crew. No reports of injuries.  The incident is under investigation.

On February 20, the 77 foot long tugboat Miss Kate along with its 135 foot long barge in tow ran aground in Atlantic Ocean near Absecon Inlet on Brigantine Beach, New Jersey. The tug had lost power and drifted ashore near the inlet. No reports of injuries. The Coast Guard was notified and arrived on scene to monitor the situation. The Miss Kate and barge were later pulled off the beach and refloated a few days later. No reports of damage or pollution released.  Both vessels were en route to Great Egg Harbor Inlet.

The 100 meter long, 3725 dwt container ship Bermuda Islander ran aground on the Delaware River near Salem, New Jersey. The boxship had suffered a power blackout and went adrift when it ran aground.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released. The Bermuda Islander was refloated the following day and berthed in Salem.
