The 102 foot long fishing vessel Nor’Quest went aground on Hagemeister Island in Togiak Bay, Alaska. The vessel was at anchor when the anchor line parted allowing the vessel to drift ashore. The 2 crewmen on board were uninjured. The Coast Guard has been monitoring the vessel for any pollution releases. Reports state the vessel has roughly 18,000 gallons of diesel fuel and another 1,000 gallons of other oil and waste aboard. The boat owners have contacted a salvage company to lighter the Nor’Quest before attempting to refloat the vessel.
