The 40 meter long fishing vessel Svyatov Spiridon caught fire while berthed in Båtsfjord, Norway. The fire started around midnight and quickly grew in intensity. The 17 crew on board were evacuated off the vessel and local fire brigades were called to the scene. Fire fighters spent over 10 hours to contain the blaze.  No details to the source of the fire or what extent of damage the fire had on the trawler.  No reports of injuries.  Local authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.

On July 29, the 30 meter long passenger 2-masted sailing ship Helena ran aground off Kjeholmen, Norway. The vessel was on a charter voyage with 123 passengers when it ran aground onto the rocks. Reports state the master of the Helena thought the water was deeper than it was actually.  There was no panic on board and the vessel suffered minimal damage as it was proceeding at a slow speed. The vessel contacted the NSSR who dispatched a lifeboat to the scene.  Half a hour later, the lifeboat pulled the Helena free.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

On July 24, the 100 meter long ro-ro passenger ferry Bjørnsund allided with a quay in Tømmervåg, Norway. The Bjørnsund was arriving in Tømmervåg from Seivika when it suffered a malfunction as it attempted to berth.  The ferry’s bow struck the quay damaging equipment that raises the ramp.  The Bjørnsund sustained damage to its bow.  No reports of injuries or pollution released. The Bjørnsund was taken out of service and proceeded to Kristiansund for repairs.
