The 29 meter long offshore supply vessel JHC Transporter collided with the 63 meter long general cargo ship Elvi Kull on the Kiel Canal at the 88.7 kilometer mark. The Elvi Kull struck head-on with JHC Transporter and sustained only minor scratches.  The JHC Transporter suffered significant damage to its bow with a large gash above the waterline.  Both vessels proceeded to Kiel for inspection. The water police launched an investigation into the incident. The Elvi Kull was allowed to continue on its voyage to Heiligenhafen. The JHC Transporter proceeded to a shipyard in Kiel.  No reports of injuries or pollution released.

The 25 meter long offshore supply vessel Sea Gale allided with the sailing vessel Heimkehr at the port at Helgoland, Germany.  The Sea Gale was attempting to moor when the vessel lost power after an engine failure.  A strong wind pushed the bow of the Sea Gale into the stern of the Heimkehr.   No reports of injuries.  Both vessels suffered only minor damage.

Maria

The 42 meter long, 438 gt fishing vessel Vertrouwen TX 68 collided with the 35 meter long, 154 gt offshore support vessel Maria in the North Sea off Den Helder, Netherlands.  The Maria sank after the collision in rests in water 25 to 30 meters deep.  Two of the five crew on board were rescued.   Three men were reported missing.   Divers went dispatched as it possible that the crewmen were trapped inside, but an inspection found that all five men were able to abandon ship.  Three KNRM  lifeboats, Coast Guard aircraft along with other commerical vessels have join in the search for the missing crewmen.  The cause of the collision was not reported.  More on Dutch Coastguard and KNRM
