9 Lives Lost in Moscow

The 13.7 meter long pleasure craft Swallow collided with a barge on the Moskva River at Moscow, Russia.   The Swallow rated to carry up to 12 passengers had 16 on board when it rammed the moored barge Oka-5 and sank quickly afterwards.   Reports states nine people were killed with the crew of the barge rescuing six from the water.   One passenger was able to swim ashore safely.   The master of the Swallow died in the collision.    The Swallow was later raised from the river bottom.   The Swallow had been chartered for a birthday party.
