The 185 meter long, 30892 dwt bulk carrier Tundra ran aground on the St. Lawrence River near South Lancaster, Ontario. The Tundra had veered a short distance out of the shipping channel and ran hard aground on a shoal. No reports of injuries. Traffic was halted on the seaway for a short time. The incident occurred just a few hours after the cruise ship Saint Laurent was refloated in a lock a short distance away in Massena. Authorities have deployed a team of investigators to assess the situation. Reports state that two tugs were to dispatched to the scene to help refloat the bulker.

The 223 meter long self-unloading bulk carrier Algoma Navigator went aground in the Welland Canal in Port Robinson, Ontario. The Algoma Navigator was passing through the canal in dense fog when the vessel struck the canal bank.  No reports of injuries or pollution released. The bulk carrier suffered some hull damage to its port side reporting there was some water ingress. The Algoma Navigator continued through the canal to Port Colborne where it berthed and inspected by authorities.

The 223 meter long bulk carrier John B. Aird ran aground on St. Lawrence River near Morrisburg, Ontario. The bulk carrier had run on to Doran Shoal sustaining some hull damage on the starboard side amidships.  Divers were requested and some underwater repair work was conducted.  No reports of injuries or pollution released.  A tug was requested to help refloat the vessel. The John B. Aird was en route to Sept Iles with a cargo of slag.
