The 20 meter long passenger ship Gretchen ran aground in the Timmeler Meer near Timmel, Großefehn, Germany. The vessel was heading back to Timmel with 18 passengers and 2 crew when it became stuck. The vessel alerted local authorities who dispatched a  fire brigade rescue boats to the scene. The fire boats were able to assist the Gretchen free and escorted back to port. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

On September 15, the passenger ship QN 3016 sank in Ha Long Bay near the port of Cai Lan, Ha Long City, Vietnam. The vessel had moved its mooring from Tuần Châu to the Ha Long Shipyards hoping to avoid the winds and waves of an approaching storm. Unfortunately, the storm surge did reach the QN 3016 while it was near a wharf at Cai Lan. The vessel sank with 4 persons on board.  Authorities dispatched a tug who rescued the crew who were taken back ashore. No reports of injuries.  Reports state the vessel’s owners have been ordered to propose a plan to salvage the passenger ship.

The 28 meter long passenger ship Jessica ran aground on the Peenestrom, Germany. The vessel was on a cruise with 31 passengers and 2 crew when it suffered a mechanical fault and drifted aground. The vessel alerted authorities who dispatched a DGzRS lifeboat to the scene. The lifeboat was able to refloat the Jessica and towed the Jessica to Kalshagen.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released. The water police has launched an investigation into the incident.
