The 65 foot long passenger ship Spirit of Kona ran ashore and later sank near the Kailua-Kona Lighthouse on the island of Hawaii. The vessel broke free as Tropical Storm Darby passed over the island. The Spirit of Kona washed up on the rocks sustaining significant damage before the vessel drifted offshore and sank. No reports of injuries as no one was on board at the time of the incident. Authorities report large chunks of floatsom and diesel fuel along the shore.  The passenger ship had some 600 gallons of diesel fuel on board along with hydraulic and lube oils. Reports state the vessel was valued over 1 million dollars (US).

On June 18, the 40 meter long passenger ship Austria Princess collided with the 73 meter long passenger ship Schönbrunn on the Danube near Dürnstein, Austria. The Schönbrunn was on a cruise from Krems to Dürnstein and back when it suffered rudder failure near Dürnstein. The vessel dropped anchor, but the current cause the anchor to drag allowing the Schönbrunn to gradually drift downstream. The Schönbrunn send out warning alerts to other vessels, but the Austria Princess proceeded towards the disabled Schönbrunn. The Austria Princess continued its approach from astern when it struck on its starboard side into the stern of the Schönbrunn. The Schönbrunn sustained damage to its bulwark and deck while more damage including shattered windows on the Austria Princess. No reports of injuries or pollution released.

The Austria Princess proceeded to Krems where it was able to berth with some difficulty before continuing on to Linz for repairs. The Schönbrunn remained in Dürnstein to be inspected. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.

On June 16, the 31 meter long, 21 dwt high-speed ferry Masaccio allided with a pier at Stromboli, Italy. The Masaccio was approaching the pier when strong winds caused the vessel to slam against the pier damaging one of the starboard hydrofoils wings. The bow of the ferry swung under the pier and became wedged underneath causing the Masaccio to partially sink. The 117 passengers and six crew were able to evacuate the vessel assisted by local islanders.Reports state many passengers were frightened by the incident, but no reports of injuries. Reports state the fuel was removed from the Masaccio and that refloating operations had already begun. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
