On the afternoon of July 14, the 19 meter long Frontex patrol vessel Pös 602 (MMSI: 237708500) sank  in the Aegean Sea off the coast of the Island of Lesbos near the town of Anaxos, Greece. The Pös 602 had struck a rock off the islet of Agios Georgios during a search and rescue operation.  The grounding resulted in puncturing the keel and uncontrolled water ingress.  The Pös 602 requested assistance with the  Greek Coast Guard along with a helicopter responding. The Greek Coast Guard was able to rescue all 6 crew who had abandoned ship into a life raft.  The crew were later taken to the port of Molyvos. No reports of injuries.  Reports state the Pös 602 sank, but no details if the patrol vessel released any pollution.

The 190 meter long, 56692 dwt bulk carrier Yue Dian 57 collided with the 40 meter long patrol vessel Zhongguohaijing 3062 near Nei Island in the Pearl River estuary, Guangdong, China. The bulk carrier was headed to Tianjin from Guangzhou when it struck the patrol vessel. The Zhongguohaijing 3062 capsized  and sank sending the eight crew into water.  Local fishermen were able to rescue all eight crew. No reports of injuries.

The Yue Dian 57 dropped anchor near the incident site. Authorities quickly dispatched a salvage team to the scene. A barge with a crane was able to raise the patrol vessel.

Reports state the Zhongguohaijing 3062 was engage in monitoring the area for illegal fishing. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.

Patrol Vessel 414

On February 11, the 41 foot long United States Navy patrol vessel 414 ran aground on the southern jetty at the entrance to St. Johns River near Jacksonville, Florida. The patrol vessel was returning from patrol and proceeding to the Mayport Naval Station when it ran onto the jetty.  The five crew on board the 414 were uninjured and rescuers were able to bring the crew ashore safely.  The patrol vessel sustained hull damage and water ingress.  Reports state salvage efforts were underway.
