On January 21, the 24 meter long, 90 ton sailing yacht Acoa (MMSI: 232017725) went aground in the Balearic Sea near Playa de Marica, Costa de Los Pinos, Mallorca, Spain. The Acoa had been blown ashore by the strong winds from cyclone Harry with gusts up to 80 kilometers per hour. The Acoa sustained some hull damage as it stranded on a rocky shoreline and being worked by the strong surf.

An initial attempt to refloat the yacht had failed and further attempts will be only made if weather permits. Authorities have launched an investigation. Reports have asked why the sailing yacht was operating so close to the shoreline in such bad conditions. No reports of injuries.
