The 68 meter long, 2323 dwt cargo vessel Fortuner sank off Talisay City, Cebu, Philippines. The Fortuner was carrying a cargo of steel bars when if suffered structural failure and developed a crack amidships. The vessel pumps were no use  as the water ingress quickly flooded the holds. The crew alerted authorities and were able to evacuate the ship. All 22 crew were later rescued by the nearby MTUG 38. The cargo vessel sank sank 2 hours later. The Fortuner rests in 30 meters under the surface some 2.2 kilometers from shore.

Authorities report spotting a 25 meter oil sheen on the surface. The Coast Guard deployed an oil boom around the spill and will monitor the area for any additional pollution released. The Fortuner had some 4000 liters of fuel on board at the time of the sinking.

On April 28, the 183 meter long, 47300 dwt tanker Coipo collided with the 30 meter long, 276 dwt tug Ona Don Lorenzo at the terminal in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The tug was assisting in maneuvers to dock the Coipo when the two vessels collided. The tug breached the tanker hull releasing oil pollution into the water. Authorities  halted traffic and placed booms around the vessel. No reports of injuries.

Reports state the release of oil was later stopped and pollution removal operations were underway.

The 80 meter long self-propelled barge Nawa 9 broke-in-two and sank on the Elbe at Hamburg, Germany. The Nawa 9 was loading a cargo of iron silicate near the Norder Elbe Bridge when the vessel suffered structural failure in the cargo hold.

The hull cracked and quickly flooded forcing the three crew to jump overboard.  The Nawa 9 partially sank with only part of the bow and wheelhouse above water. No reports of injuries.

The local fire brigade was alerted. The brigade placed booms around the wreck to contain any pollution released. Reports state the water police halted traffic around the wreck.
