On October 23, the 21 meter long fishing vessel Segredos Do Mar sank off Sesimbra near Lisbon, Portugal. The Segredos Do Mar had  become disabled when it suffered a mechanical breakdown which resulted in the fishing vessel to run aground on the rocks just off the shoreline. The crew contacted authorities who dispatched rescue vessels and aircraft to the scene. The 14 crew on board were safely rescued. No reports of injuries. Reports state the Segredos Do Mar later sank.

The 112 meter long ro-ro passenger ferry Lobo Marinho allided with a pier at Vila Baleira on Porto Santo Island, Portugal. The ferry was proceeding into the port in heavy seas with waves reaching 5 meters and wind gusts reaching 70 km/h when the ferry struck the pier sustaining a small gash above the waterline. No reports of injuries or pollution released.

The 274 meter long, 149,996 dwt oil tanker Tokyo Spirit ran aground in Cascais Bay off Lisbon, Portugal. The Tokyo Spirit had arrived in ballast to Cascais for repairs. While awaiting permission to enter the port, the tanker dropped anchor offshore. While at anchor, weather conditions worsen with heavy seas and winds reaching 50 knots causing the tanker to drag her anchors. The Tokyo Spirit was blown aground just outside the breakwater. The 22 crew on board decided to stay on board until the tanker could be refloated.

Assisted by seven tugs, the tanker was later refloated the following day.  The Tokyo Spirit was pulled free and towed to Port of Setúbal. No reports of injuries or pollution released.
