The 243 meter long,43618 dwt container ship MSC Monica ran aground on the St. Lawrence river near Deschaillons-sur-Saint-Laurent, Quebec. The MSC Monica had departed from Montreal when it ran hard aground after it had suffered rudder failure. No reports of injuries or pollution released.  Three tugs arrived on scene and refloated the MSC Monica the following day. The MSC Monica proceeded to Quebec City for inspection.  Only minimal damage was reported.

The 138 meter long, 12700 dwt cargo vessel BBC Maple Lea ran aground on Lake Saint-Louis near Île Saint-Nicolas, Quebec. The BBC Maple Lea sustained damage to its bow thruster releasing some oil into the water. No reports of injuries. Tugs were dispatched to the scene and the cargo vessel was freed the following day. Reports state the BBC Maple Lea was loaded with a cargo of scrap.

The 107 meter long, 6285 dwt chemical tanker Jo Spirit ran aground on the St. Lawrence River near Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The tanker had suffered engine failure while proceeding int the South Shore Canal. Without power, the Jo Spirit veered off course and struck the canal embankment. No reports of injuries or pollution released. Traffic in the area on the incident was halted on the St. Lawrence River. Two tugs were dispatched to the scene to refloat the tanker. The Jo Spirit was en route to Cuxhaven from Hamilton with a cargo of rum.
