The 83 meter long, 1768 dwt freighter Rebecca Rousing became disabled off Öland, Sweden. The Rebecca Rousing was en route to Gotland from Wolin when the vessel suffered a mechanical breakdown resulting in a power blackout. The freighter went adrift in heavy seas and high winds and was in danger of being blown ashore. The crew contacted the Swedish Coast Guard who dispatched a rescue vessel from Öland and took the Rebecca Rousing under tow. Both vessels proceeded to northern tip of Öland where it dropped anchor and sheltered from the wind and waves. No reports of injuries to the five crew or pollution released.
A fire broke out in the cargo hold of the 1768 dwt freighter Rebecca Rousing while moored at the Stallbacka harbour in Trollhättan, Sweden. The fire started in the cargo of scrap cars which spread a thick acrid smoke over the area. A port crane was initially used to pull out the burning cargo, but emergency services were called out and were able to get the fire under control. No reports of injuries.
