Collision off Isle de Tortue

Collision off Isle de Tortue

The 150 meter long, 11013 dwt reefer Timor Stream collided with the 170 meter long, 28836 dwt freighter Seagate near Isle de Tortue, Haiti.  The Timor Stream struck in the starboard stern quarter of the Seagate leaving a large gash.   The Seagate was severely damaged and suffered water ingress.   The 18 of the 21 crew on board the Seagate abandoned ship and were taken on board the Timor Stream.  After the further inspection, the Seagate was found to be stable and was not going to sink.   The vessel’s engine room had only minimal flooding.   However, one of the Seagate’s fuel tanks was punctured releasing some 4,000 gallons of lubricating oil.   The Timor Stream suffered minimal damage.   No reports of injuries on either vessel.  The Coast Guard Cutter Venturous was nearby and has taken command at the scene.

Skulptor Tomskiy

Skulptor Tomskiy

The 138 meter long, 7673 dwt reefer Skulptor Tomskiy went aground in the Morskoy Canal at St. Petersburg, Russia.   The reefer was entering the port and had a pilot on board when it went aground.  The Tomskiy was unable to free itself and required the assistance of four tugs to be refloated later that day.   No reports of injuries, damage or pollution being released.

Ice Bird

Ice Bird

The 93 meter long, 3546 dwt reefer Ice Bird went aground at Rya, Norway after the vessel suffered an engine failure.  The Ice Bird was refloated and proceeded to Tromso.   No reports of injuries or pollution being released.
