The 84 meter long, 2187 dwt reefer Baroasaa caught fire in the Indian Ocean near Thilafushi, Maldives. The blaze quickly consumed the superstructure forcing 18 of the 19 crew to evacuate the vessel. One crewman was reported missing and presumed to have burned to death in the incident. Authorities were unable to board the Baroasaa and no fire fighting efforts were undertaken. No further details reported.

The 108 meter long, 5754 dwt reefer Green Klipper caught fire while berthed in a repair yard in Szczecin, Poland. The fire started in the vessel’s cargo hold. The blaze released a large plume of smoke due to the amount of foam within the hold. Seven fire brigades responded to the scene along with fireboats.  Their efforts were able to bring the fire under control after several hours. No reports of injuries. The amount of damage to the hold was not reported.

On April 10, the 95 meter long reefer cargo vessel Silver Pearl ran aground in the Ulve Sound near Vågsøy, Norway. The vessel had suffered a technical fault before running aground. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released. The Silver Pearl was refloated on the following high tide assisted by a tug.  The Silver Pearl proceeded to Måløy for inspection.
