On the morning of June 11, the 105 meter long self-propelled barge Fairplay (MMSI: 211234090) ran aground on the Danube River near Regensburg, Germany. The Fairplay was headed to Linz from Nürnberg with a cargo of iron ore when it ran aground during a turning maneuver trying to enter the port at Regensburg.  The Fairplay was stuck lying at an angle partially blocking navigation traffic.

Attempts to refloat the Fairplay the following day failed. A pusher tug had arrived on site and was unable to free the barge.  After several failed salvage attempts with the pusher over the following days,  a dredger was dispatched from Rotterdam to lighter part of the cargo of iron ore. Authorities have stated the water level should rise, but may not be enough to aid in refloating the Fairplay. The water police have stated the stranded barge is secured and there is enough room to allow vessel traffic to resume.  No reports of injuries or pollution released.

The 23 meter long, 180 tonne towboat Gisela and a barge allided on the Danube near Regensburg, Germany. The Gisela was pushing a barge loaded with gravel when it struck a pillar of a stone bridge causing a 15 centimeter crack along the hull plating. The vessel suffered water ingress and the vessel requested assistance. The water police and fire brigade arrived on scene.  A boom was placed around the vessels to contain any pollution while additional pumps to keep the flooding under control. Divers were requested and reports state a patch was to seal the leak before the Gisela could proceed. No reports of injuries and traffic on the Danube was not restricted. The water police has launched an investigation into the incident.

Sinn

The 105 meter long self-propelled barge Sinn went aground on the Danube River near Regensburg, Germany.   The Sinn became stuck along the shoreline after a navigation error and swung perpendicular by the river until the stern became stuck on the opposite bank.   The Sinn blocked traffic on the Danube for a few hours until it was refloated.   The self-propelled barge proceeded to Mühlhamer Loop where it dropped anchor.   The Sinn was en route to Passau from Deggendorf with 613 tons of soy.
