The 110 meter long self-propelled tanker barge Brienzersee ran aground on the Rhine near St. Goar, Germany. The Brienzersee was headed to Rotterdam from Milligen with 2350 tons of gasoline when it suffered engine failure. The tanker-barge went adrift and the crew attempted an emergency anchoring, but the vessel ran aground blocking traffic. Another barge arrived a short time later and was able to push the Brienzersee out of the fairway keeping the tanker stable until two tugs could arrive.  The tugs refloated the Brienzersee and towed the tanker to a nearby port. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released. Reports state the Brienzersee had its injection pumps damaged on the main engine which caused the power blackout.
