On May 28, the 112 meter long, 1129 dwt ro-ro passenger ferry Melshorn became disabled on the Tysfjord.  The ferry was en route to Skarberget from Bognes with seven passengers and three crew when it suffered a power blackout after an engine failure.  The Melshorn went adrift and was being blown toward shore by a strong breeze.  The crew dropped the ferry’s anchor before it struck land. The Melshorn requested assistance with several boats coming to her aid. The Melshorn was taken under tow back to port.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

On May 2, the 188 meter long, 7885 dwt ro-ro passenger ferry Finnfellow allided with a quay at Långnäs, Åland Islands. The Finnfellow damaged a fender which broke off and sank in the harbour. No reports of injuries or pollution released from the ferry.  The port of Långnäs was closed to traffic for several hours until the fender could be pulled out of the sea.

The 795 gt ro-ro passenger ferry Jack Daniel ran aground near Barangay Rawis, Albay, Philippines.  The Jack Daniel departed from Pantao, Libon when it ran aground some 1.2 kilometers off the shoreline. Reports state the crew had made a navigation error resulting in driving the ferry up onto a coral reef. A dive team was dispatched to inspect the Jack Daniel for damage.  No signs of pollution has been spotted.  Authorities have stated the Jack Daniel will most likely be pulled free on the next high tide.  No reports of injuries to the 24 crew on board.
