The 186 meter long, 7000 dwt r0-r0 passenger ferry Sicilia allided with the pier at Ibiza, Spain. The Sicilia had arrived from Barcelona in bad conditions. As the ferry maneuvered to dock, strong winds pushed the ferry to strike the pier. The Sicilia was able to moor later and allow passengers to disembark.

The Sicilia sustained hull damage at the starboard stern. The vessel was holed above the waterline. No reports of injuries to the crew or the 9 passengers on board at the time of the incident.

The Sicilia was pulled out of service for repairs. Reports state the ferry would be repaired in a few days.

The 128 meter long, 1616 dwt ro-ro passenger ferry Vitsentzos Komaros became disabled off Rhodes, Greece. The ferry had departed from Rhodes when one of its main engines failed. Unable to restart the engine, the Vitsentzos Komaros returned back to port at reduced speed. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

On December 29, the 110 meter long, 3170 dwt ro-ro railroad car ferry Annenkov allided with the 102 meter long ro-ro passenger ferry Elena at Kavkaz, Russia. The Annenkov was attempting to berth when strong winds caused the rail ferry to drift into the moored Elena. Both vessels only suffered minor damage and dents. No reports of injuries or pollution released. Both vessels were to be inspected before allowing to return to service.
