The 117 meter long, 3133 dwt ro-ro cargo vessel Taba capsized and sank in the Red Sea just outside the port of Safaga, Egypt. The Taba had just departed from Safaga bound for Dhiba with cargo of trucks when it suffered a cargo shift.  The 37 persons on board were able to safely abandon ship and were later rescued by Egyptian rescue boats. The Taba  capsized and sank. No reports of injuries.  Reports state the trucks on deck had not be properly secured which lead to the incident.

The 120 meter long ro-ro cargo vessel Kvitbjørn ran aground off Skeide, Norway. The Kvitbjørn was en route to Ulsteinvik from Bergen when it struck a reef. The NSSR lifeboat was requested and attempted to pull the Kvitbjørn free, but without any success. A tug was requested and was able to refloat the Kvitbjørn on the rising tide. No reports of injuries to the 15 persons on board, damage or pollution released. The Kvitbjørn proceeded to a nearby yard for inspection. Reports state the cause of the grounding was due to a technical fault.

The 191 meter long, ro-ro cargo vessel Transpaper collided with the 36 meter long sailing vessel Lisa von Lübeck on the Trave.  The Lisa von Lübeck struck into the side of Transpaper as it was departing from port. The bowsprit broke off the Lisa von Lübeck and some damage was reported on the Transpaper. No reports of injuries on either vessel.  The water police has launched an investigation into the incident.
