The 190 foot long  ro-ro cargo vessel Sabre Spirit ran aground off Current Cut between Saint Thomas and Great Saint James in the US Virgin Islands.  The vessel was en route to Charlotte Amalie, Saint Thomas from Tortola, British Virgin Islands when it grounded.  The Sabre Spirit suffered some hull damage and water ingress. No reports of injuries to the 12 crew on board.   Authorities from St. Thomas arrived on scene and temporary repairs were completed. The Sabre Spirit was refloated on the following high tide and proceeded to Crown Bay, Saint Thomas.  No reports of pollution released. The Coast Guard has launched an investigation into the incident.

The 122 meter long ro-ro passenger ferry Hardanger allided with the quay at Tau, Norway.  The ferry was approaching the quay when it suffered a power blackout after the main engine failed.  The Hardanger was unable to slow down and struck the quay damaging its bow and broke concrete off the quay.  No reports of injuries. The ferry was able restore power and back off the quay.  The Hardanger reversed back into dock to allow the vehicles to disembark.  Divers were contracted to inspect the ferry for damage. Norwegian authorities have launched an investigation  into the incident. The ferry was coming from Stavanger with 105 passengers and 11 crew.

The 65 meter long, 740 gt ro-ro ferry Fitjar ran aground near Ranavik, Norway.  The ferry was en route to Skjersholmane from Ranavik when the vessel struck bottom.  The vessel headed back to Ranavik to be inspected and passengers were disembarked.  A few days later divers inspected the hull and found the Fitjar’s rudder had been damaged.  No reports of injuries or pollution released.
