The 64 meter long ro-ro ferry Sykkylvsfjord allided with the pier at Liabygda, Norway.   The ferry was approaching  pier when it was unable to slow down before striking the ramp.   No reports of injuries to the four crew or five passengers on board.  The  bow ramp was damaged after wedged under the pier.   The cause of the incident was due to a failure with one of the ferry’s propellers.  A tug was requested and was able to free the Sykkylvsfjord before proceeding to tow the ferry to a nearby repair yard.  This was the second allision in the past two weeks for the vessel.

Gullmaj

The 92 meter long ro-ro ferry Gullmaj went aground between Finnsbo and Skår, Sweden.  The ferry struck a rock after it suffered a malfunction to the vessel’s steering.  The Gullmaj was able to refloat itself an hour later and proceeded back to port where passengers and vehicles were safely unloaded.  No reports of injuries or pollution released.  The Gullmaj proceeded to a shipyard for further investigation.   Reports state the malfunction was a problem with the propeller or rudder.

The 64 meter long, 765 gt ro-ro ferry Sykkylvsfjord allided with the jetty near Stranda, Norway.  The wooden pier splintered from the impact send bits of wood into the air.   No reports of injuries, but many passengers on board where shocked by the loud bang of the impact.   The Sykkylvsfjord suffered damage to one of the ramp gates.   Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.  Reports states the vessel had suffered a malfunction to one of its propellers.
