The 134 meter long ro-ro ferry Fanafjord allided with the pier at Sandvikvåg, Norway.   The ferry sustain some damage.  No reports of injuries or pollution being released. Reports state the on board computer had malfunctioned causing the accident.   The cause of the allision is being investigated by authorities.

The 262 dwt ro-ro passenger ferry Super Shuttle Ferry 15 went aground near Merida, Leyte, Philippines.  The ferry had left port at Ormoc City with 191 passengers headed for Cebu City when it lost power after suffering engine failure.   The vessel drifted until it ran aground onto shallow waters.   The vessel contacted the Philippine Coast Guard stating the vessel had gone aground and it’s sister ship, the Super Shuttle Ferry 23, was being sent to the scene.   A few hours later the Super Shuttle Ferry 23 arrived and safely transferred 185 passengers and proceeded back to Ormoc City.  No reports of injuries.   The Super Shuttle Ferry 15 will be refloated by the assistance of the Super Shuttle 23 on the following day.  Authorities dispatched inspectors and personnel to help assess the situation.

The 97 meter long ro-ro ferry Trondheim ran aground near Krokeide, Norway.   The Trondheim departed Austevoll with 72 passengers and five crew on a scheduled voyage.  As the ferry was approaching the piers at Krokeide, it suffered engine failure.   The vessel was unable to slow down so the master steered the Trondheim away from the piers to avoid an allision, but grounded on the opposite side of the waterway.   Passengers reported a loud thud as the ferry struck bottom, but there was no panic on board.    No reports of injuries or pollution released.   The passengers were later safely evacuated.   The ferry was later towed to the nearby quay.   Divers were requested to make an inspection of the hull for any possible damage.
