Sharden 30 Meter Gash

The 220 meter long, 7031 dwt ro-ro ferry Sharden allided with a pier while departing from Cititavecchia, Italy bound for Sardinia.   The ferry suffered damage to its hull with a 30 meter long gash just above the waterline.  The allision was caused by strong winds.    No reports of injuries to the 262 passengers or 53 crew on board.   The Sharden returned to port with the assistance of two tugs.   All passengers and vehicles were safely unloaded.   The Italian Coast Guard had started an investigation into the cause of the accident.    No reports of pollution being released.

Selje

Selje

The 84 meter long, 662 dwt ro-ro ferry Selje became disabled near Mannheller, Norway.   The Selje had departed Mannheller when it suffered a complete engine failure causing the ferry to go adrift.   The ferry Ardal came to the aid of the Selje and took it under tow to Kaupanger.   Passengers were transferred off the Selje then transported to Mannheller and Fodnes.   No reports of injuries, damage or pollution being released.

Alsten

The 57 meter long, 261 dwt ro-ro ferry Alsten allided with the quay at Søvik, Norway.   The Alsten was approaching the dock when strong winds pushed it against the quay.    All 18 passengers on board were unharmed, but the ferry suffered some damage to it’s hull.   The Alsten was unable to maneuver and required two tugs to be berthed.  The ferry was pulled from service for repairs.
