STENA_SUPERFAST_VIII

The 203 meter long, 5990 dwt ro-ro passenger ferry Stena Superfast VIII went adrift while in the port of Belfast, Northern Ireland. The vessel had drifted from its berth with 18 passengers and 55 crew when the area was struck by a severe Atlantic storm from the remnants of Hurricane Gonzalo.  Tugs were dispatched and were able to maneuver the ferry back to its berth. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

The 80 meter long ro-ro ferry Røsund becamed disabled while berthed at a quay in Skarberget, Norway.  Two lorries were loaded on the vessel and their weight caused the ferry to list to starboard. The sudden list caused the ramp to fall into the water.  One passenger fell overboard into the sea. The crew Røsund were able to get counterweights set and level the vessel again. No reports of damage or pollution released.

The 141 meter long ro-ro passenger ferry Wasa Express caught fire in Vaasa, Finland. The fire started in an electrical panel in the engine room.  The crew was able to contain the fire and extinguish the blaze before the local fire brigade arrived.  One crewman suffered some smoke inhalation, but did not require to be taken to hospital. The ferry was pulled from service to allow  for an investigation into incident. No reports of pollution released.
