The 114 meter long, 3353 dwt coastal freighter Nikolay L went aground on the River Don near Rostov-on-Don, Russia.   The Nikolay L departed Rostov-on-Don with a cargo of manganese ore bound for Turkey when it went aground.   The freighter suffered cracks in the hull which allowed water ingress into the hull.   No reports of injuries or pollution.   Reports state the Nikolay L may have been damaged by ice and was grounded to avoid the vessel sinking.

The 114 meter long, 3346 dwt freighter Sormovkiy 199 suffered damage in the ice while departing Rostov-on-Don, Russia, in the Azov-Don Channel.   The Sormovkiy was proceeding in a convoy through the ice  with an icebreaker escort when it suffered hull damage to its stem.   The rudder compartment was holed in the ice.  The crew were able to patch the hull and resume its voyage to its destination to Samsun, Turkey.  No reports of injuries or pollution released.

The 141 meter long, 5600 dwt tanker Climena went aground on the Don River near Rostov-on-Don, Russia.  The Climena was attempting to anchor when it was pushed aground by strong winds.  Initial attempts to refloat the tanker failed.  Reports state the next refloating attempt on the next high tide.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.
