The 182 meter long, 8795 dwt pipe layer vessel Lorelay suffered a fire while berthed in Rotterdam, Netherlands.   The Rotterdam Port Authority vessels responded quickly and were able to contain the blaze.   The fire was in a control room below deck.   No one was injured.

Bremen formerly named Accurat

The 31 meter long tug Bremen became disabled in the North Sea.   The Bremen had left Hamburg for Trieste when it suffered propulsion problems and required assistance.   The tug Fairplay XII took the Bremen under tow into Rotterdam where the it is berthed in Merwede Harbour.  No reports of injury or pollution being released.

Major Fire at Waalhaven

The 101 meter long, 3728 dwt freighter Skog suffered an engine room fire while at berth at Waalhaven, Rotterdam, Netherlands.  The Skog loaded with aluminum had a major fire with large amount of smoke in the engine room and the insulation of the chimney.  Four crewmen suffered injuries and taken to hospital.   Local fire fighters were able to extinguish the fire.   Reports state the probable cause of the fire was by leaking diesel fuel.   A spokesperson stated no dangerous substances released during the fire.
