The 135 meter long self-propelled tanker-barge Estrella caught fire while moored in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The fire broke out due to an electrical short in the vessel’s bathroom. The local fire brigade along with multiple tugs responded to the scene. The fire fighters were able to extinguish the blaze a short time later. No reports of injuries or pollution released.
The 70 meter long self-propelled barge Cotrans 8 allided with a Beukels Bridge in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The Cotrans 8 was unable to stop before the barge struck the bridge damaging the wheelhouse and the car on deck was smashed. No reports of injuries or pollution released. The Cotrans 8 was able to proceed under its own power to a nearby berth.
The 111 meter long oil rig Scarabeo 5 caught fire while at Keppel Verolme Yard at Botlek, Rotterdam, Netherlands. Three yard workers were injured in the blaze. Two suffered from smoke inhalation while the other suffered burns. The blaze was extinguished a short time later. The cause of the fire was not yet known.
