The 140 meter long tanker Balt Flot 3 collided with a barge on the Volga-Baltic Sea Canal near Kurdyug, Russia. The Balt Flot 3 was proceeding with 5193 tons of fuel oil when it changed course to allow a cargo vessel to pass. Unfortunately, the tug BT-Petrokrepost and barge #3428 was in the direct path of the tanker. The barge struck head-on with the Balt Flot 3 causing damage to the tanker below the waterline. The Balt Flot 3 suffered hull breach and water ingress in the bow thruster compartment. No reports of injuries or pollution released. Details and status of the barge and tug were not reported.

The 132 meter long, 4660 dwt tanker Volgoneft-210 collided with the 108 meter long cargo vessel Veles on the Azov-Don Sea Canal near Rostov-on-Don, Russia.  Reports state the vessels were proceeding in reduced visibility when the Volgoneft-210 struck the Veles.  The Veles sustained damage along the bulwark and main deck.  No reports of injuries or pollution released. Both vessels were ordered to proceed to Rostov-on-Don for surveys.  Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.

On September 14, the 114 meter long, 3230 dwt cargo vessel Vita ran aground on the Svir River near Voznesenye, Russia. The Vita was en route to Priozersk from Petrozavodsk with a cargo of 2100 tons of logs. Initial attempts to refloat the vessel had failed with a tug and lighter dispatched to unload part of the cargo. No reports of injuries and no pollution released.
