On July 29, the 89 meter long, 2784 dwt cargo vessel Kudma 4 ran aground on the Volga River near the 202 kilometer mark. The vessel was headed to Tver from St. Petersburg when it ran aground. The Kudma 4 did not block river traffic, but was unable to refloat itself.  Authorities were contacted and a salvage operation was launched. Reports state six vessels were involved in the refloating efforts which was successful the following day. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

The 82 meter long, 1810 dwt cargo vessel Zelenga ran aground on the Don River near Rostov-on-Don, Russia. The vessel had veered out the fairway when it became stuck on a mudbank while en route to Yalta. A tug was dispatched and was able to free the Zelenga a short time later. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

On May 27, the 133 meter long, 4150 dwt tanker Volgoneft 217 ran aground on the Nizhnyaya Scheksna River near Cherepovets, Russia. The Volgoneft 217 was headed to St. Petersburg from Yaroslavl when it suffered steering failure and ran aground. The vessel was able to refloat itself the next day and proceeded to a nearby anchorage. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.
