Daisy

On April 7, the 70 meter long, 3135 dwt general cargo vessel Daisy ran aground in the Azov Sea near Azov, Russia. The Daisy was en route to Rostov-on-Don from Turkey when it ran aground near the anchorage off Azov. The cargo vessel remained aground until the next day when a tug was able to pull it free. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released. The Daisy proceeded on its voyage to Rostov-on-Don.

The 88 meter long, 2755 dwt cargo vessel Rasha 1 collided with the 114 meter long cargo vessel Volgo Balt 239 on the Volga River at Astrakhan, Russia. The two vessels were moored at the anchorage off Astrakhan when the anchor of the Rasha 1 began to drag. The Rasha 1 drifted until it struck the Volgo Balt 239. Both vessels sustained minor damage to their railings and dents in the hulls. No reports of injuries or pollution released. Authorities detained the vessels while conducting an investigation into the incident.

The 56 meter long, 857 dwt fishing vessel Carolina 33 caught fire in the Okhotsk Sea near Magadan, Russia. The fire started in the fishing processing workshop by an electrical short circuit in an ice generator.  The blaze spread to the engine room and on to the main deck.

The crew sent out a distress call with the nearby trawler Yantar 1 responding. The Yantar 1 arrived on scene and transferred some 39 out of 52 crew off the Carolina 33. Authorities dispatched the salvage tug Sibirskiy to assist in firefighting efforts.

No further details reported to the status of the vessel or extent of damage. No reports of injuries to the 39 crew rescued.
