The 124 meter long, 5862 dwt tanker Nadezhda ran aground off the shore Sakhalin Island, Russia. The tanker was en route to Korsakov from Vanino with 400 tons of diesel fuel when it was caught in a severe storm. The tanker was blown ashore on to the rocks. The hull was damaged allowing water ingress into the engine room. No reports of injuries or pollution released.  Reports state a tug was dispatched to assist in salvaging the Nadezhda.

On October 21, the 92 meter long, 5107 dwt cargo vessel Seminole  allided with a berthed vessel on the Don River at Rostov-On-Don, Russia. The Seminole was entering the port from Samsun, Turkey being being assisted by a tug when it got to close to the moored vessels.  The port side hull of the Seminole scraped against one of the berthed vessels.  The Seminole’s hull was severely damage along with the superstructure being torn open.  No reports of injuries.

VOLGONEFT 255

On October 9, the 133 meter long, 4125 dwt tanker Volgoneft 255 ran aground on the Volga River near Volgograd, Russia. The tanker had been blown aground by strong winds.  No reports of injuries or pollution released.  Reports state the Volgoneft 255 was en route from Samara to Kavkaz in the Azov Sea with 2751 tons of heavy fuel oil.  The vessel will require lightering before it can be refloated.
