Sagasbank

The 89 meter long, 4500 dwt freighter Sagasbank allided with a pier on the Weser River at Brake, Germany.  The Sagasbank was attempting to berth when the master of the vessel made a navigational error and struck the pier.  The vessel’s hull suffered a small hole near a tank containing lubricating oil.   The pier also suffered damage.   No reports of injuries or pollution released into the water.   The water police has launched an investigation into the incident.   The Sagasbank was detained in Brake until it can make the necessary repairs.

Sagasbank Aground

 

The 4500 dwt freighter Sagasbank went aground in the Kolding Fjord  just before it entered the Port of Kolding, Denmark.  The Sagasbank was moving around 8 knots when it went aground, but there was no damage to the vessel.  Divers had inspected the hull and the ship was later refloated and entered Kolding to unload its cargo.  No reports of  pollution being released.
